Why I’m Selling All My Shoes!

Happy Tuesday, everyone! I thought today’s post would be perfect for Tuesday Shoesday. Today’s post is a little late because I almost didn’t publish one. Let’s just say that life is crazy right now, but I’m trying to get it all done hehe.

Anyway, a few days ago, I posted to my Instastory that I would be sharing some things that would shock you. Today is the first installment. Okay…here goes…I have decided to sell (almost) all my shoes! Yes, you read that correctly. I have decided to sell almost my shoes, and here’s why:

  1. Quality over quantity. I have written several posts before about why quality over quantity is the way to go. I had a conversation with my sister last year about taking advantage of the semi-annual sales at Saks Fifth Avenue and trying to stock up on the very best designer shoes for the best prices. This is what I want to do. I want to start out with two shoes (that I’ve already picked out) and go from there. I’ll soon be posting some of the shoes I want over the next few weeks. From there, I want to add just a few other pieces to be my core set. Beyond that, I will buy trending pieces here and there for fashion inspiration, but I won’t spend too much on those pairs.
  2. I don’t have the space. Another reason I decided I would sell my shoes is because I literally don’t have the space for the shoes. Okay, I do have space in my house, but I barely have space in my closet. (This is another point on which I will elaborate in another blog post). I was looking at my shoes the other day, and after being completely honest with myself, I realized that I don’t wear many of them and truthfully, they are taking up space that I don’t have. It almost seems wasteful to have so many that aren’t being used. I’ll elaborate on this one soon too.
  3. I get bored. Haha. This one is such a dumb reason, but it’s true. I went through this with my clothes. I gave away and sold a LOT of clothes recently and want to do the same with my shoes. Again, with my clothes, I don’t spend quite as much on them because I wear them so few times. I still buy quality items, but most of them are on sale and others are trending pieces that are kind of only meant to be worn a few times before the next season’s pieces are released. For this reason, I also try to stick with timeless pieces that look good year-round. Living in Florida helps because every day is a variation of a summer day.

If you are at all interested in any of my shoes, I’ll be listing them over the next few days/weeks on Poshmark. You can go on there and MAKE ME OFFERS! I’m taking offers. All my shoes have been worn either zero to 5 times. Again, there are a few there now, but I will be posting more soon, and some will be deeply discounted. You’ll notice that there are several size 9’s on there. I’m an 8 and 1/2, but in some shoes I went up a half-size only to have them end up being a little too loose. Sigh. Anyway, I’ll see you there!

What are your thoughts on this?

Oh, and my Poshmark name is TheGirlFromNYC 🙂

  • I totally agree!!! I have been thinking about just having a few really awesome outfits and getting rid of the rest which are mostly pieces that don’t have something specific to wear with. Just outfits, will that simplify things? Hopefully! I am excited to see how the shoe thing works for you!!!

    • Thank you, Stacy. I am excited about doing this. It goes along the lines of the house ‘thing’ we were discussing the other night. I’m ready to simplify a bit. Let’s do it!!!

  • I think cleaning out the shoes is a great idea. A few weeks ago I cleaned out my closet and was ashamed at how many skirts I had of one color. So I began the cleaning out process. Lol!
