Happy Tuesday, everyone! I am sitting in my parents’ T.V. room listening to the sleet fall and hit the windows. It is so melodic and calming. It’s at moments such as these that I miss living here. Okay, but then the dream dies when I think about having to drive in it.
These pictures are from my aunt’s 50th birthday celebration last week. I don’t yet have photos of everyone else, but the dress code for the family was all-white. I contemplated wearing black just because I wanted to look different, but it was pretty nice to do this and have a way for the other guests to know that this is your family. And…of course…my youngest aunt did wear an all-black outfit. So funny! We all had a laugh at that.
I really enjoyed myself. We were there for about four hours. I loved seeing so many of my family members that I hadn’t seen in a long time. This night was also special because we were celebrating my aunt’s 50th, but this time last year, she was recovering from a stroke. She’s made such great progress that it blows my mind. It was a night of joy for many reasons.
Of course, I was stressing out over the cupcakes I had to bake for it. I baked and decorated about 100 cupcakes for the event. The flavors were red velvet and carrot with cream cheese frosting and vanilla with egg nog buttercream frosting. I made edible snowflakes out of fondant and sprinkled the cupcakes with silver, sugar dust. I wanted them to be perfect, but I hadn’t baked in so long, that I was almost hyperventilating the morning of her party. I had made the frosting the night before, but I always worry about make sure that everything is perfect when I have to bake.
On our way to her party, I asked my hubby if I was too dressed up. He said that I was, but he knew that’s what I wanted lol. I wasn’t though. All my family looked amazing!
This dress was a huge hit. I had taken Milty to an indoor play area and a friend asked if I wanted to walk over to Goodwill with her. It was right next door, and our husbands were there to keep an eye on the kids.
When we walked into Goodwill, I saw this dress and fell in love with it. It had some stains on it, and that deterred me for a bit, but I just couldn’t leave it in the store.
I receive so many compliments whenever I wear this dress. I love pieces like this. They can be dressed up dressed down, or worn as is.
My shoes are also so comfortable that after buying one pair, I went and bought two more. The heels are high, but they are probably the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever owned and they have a bit of glitz to them.
What are your plans for today?
Have a great day, everyone and thanks for reading!
