Happy Monday, everyone! I can’t even begin to tell you the kind of chaos going on in my dining room…and pretty much the rest of the house. As I’m writing this, the dining room table is actually finished, but deciding on the right chairs for the space has been a nightmare of sorts.
In some of the pictures, I have two creamy-yellow chairs that have nailheads on them. We purchased these chairs to serve as the host and hostess’ chairs. See them here. They were on a huge discount from my favorite store – Pier 1. Since these pictures were taken though, we have brought home several other chairs to see how they will look in the space. We want the end chairs to be different from the other side chairs, but as this point, we might just use eight of the same chairs.
What Milt did was stain the table in a red mahogany first, let it dry, and then he sanded it down. After he sanded it, he applied the white wash and let that dry. When that step was completed, he then sanded the table again. The last step was to apply a semi-gloss polycrylic to the table for shine and protection.
I’ve been running around like a mad woman to Pier 1 trying to get the decorations for the top of the table. One of my biggest challenges is to find decor that works year-round. I want to be able to decorate for each season, but I want the big items to remain the same. To accomplish this, I’ll most likely just get seasonal filler items for the hurricanes, seasonal bowl fillers, wreaths, pillows, candles, etc.
I will fill you in on the progress as it continues. I can guarantee you that it looks really amazing so far!
