Happy Monday, everyone! This is the last week before Senior Bible Quizzing Nationals in OKC! Gah!!! I cannot even compose myself. This is it! This is our last week to get ready. This is the culmination of the entire year of bible quizzing. To be honest though, this year has flown by and I’m left wondering where all the time went. I am hoping that by the time this post publishes, I will have packed all our suitcases. (Please don’t tell my dad that I’m packing close to the last moment. His bags are packed at least one month before any trip he takes).
This is also a very special week for me. My sister, brother-in-law, and two nephews are in town. The only bad part is that we will be a tad bit busy because of quiz practice, packing, (never-ending) remodeling, and shopping. We are still trying to make the best of the visit. I am actually glad that she is here during this week because a family member of ours goes in this morning to find out whether or not some of her cells are cancerous. I am not able to be there at the appointment, so having her here to go to it is perfect. We are praying for a negative report!
As I write this, Milton is in the hall bath grouting tile. We spent the evening having dinner in Orlando. Before heading up for dinner, we stopped in another city to pick up some items for the quiz trip. We had purchased a Living Social deal for a Brazilian Steakhouse and realized it would expire while we were out of town. With him being an early riser, he’s been up for quite a long time now (it’s 1:34 AM). He was ready for bed and then thought it best to go grout the tile so that he could continue working in the bathroom in the morning. The night owl in me quickly agreed with him. It gave me an opportunity to come sit in my (not finished) office and start blogging. Yay for late nights!
I posted on Facebook a few days ago that I don’t understand it when people go to bed early. An early bedtime for me is any time before midnight. I have always been a night person, and I genuinely don’t understand the desire for going to bed early. I suppose it’s healthier, and I know that you seemingly get more done in a day when you wake up early, but I just can’t fall asleep at a decent time. I want to, but it has been a struggle for me all my life. I am the only person that lived in my parents’ house that was and still is a night owl. I find that I work better at night. When I worked, I didn’t go to bed early, and I was always tired at work. Even when we are traveling, I don’t fall asleep, and I end up getting on the plane or starting a road trip with only one to three hours of sleep.
Now that I am homeschooling my son, I usually devote my days to taking care of my family and reserve the nights for the things I want to do. I am generally busy around the house teaching, bible quizzing cleaning, baking, doing laundry, decorating, and doing many other things. In the evenings, and then into the night, I get my personal things done. I just work better when he’s asleep and the house is quiet. When I am taking classes though, I will sometimes work on assignments during the day while he is working on his. My husband is NOT a night person, but he stays up and hangs out with me almost every night. What a guy!
Are you a night owl or a morning person?

P.S. I am so excited because I will have a guest writer submitting a post this week and possibly another one from a very unlikely source! Do you love to write? You can send me an email so we can discuss you being a guest writer too!!!
