On Facebook a few days ago, I let on about silently suffering for a few months over not being able to have a good cup of coffee at home. Of course, I’m not serious. At least not completely. I have an older Keurig machine. It was a Christmas gift to me from the hubs. It was the perfect gift because I am the only one that drinks coffee in my house.
When I first got the Keurig, I had Amazon auto-deliver K-cups to my home. Shipping was free, and I could choose the frequency. After I started couponing, I realized it was cheaper to use the reusable filter and my own coffee.
For the last few months I have struggled with getting the coffee to taste ‘decent.’ I tried different brands of coffee and different creamers. Nothing worked. I found myself dumping one to two cups of coffee each morning. I even tried to descale the Keurig. Nothing worked. I needed to do something. I needed a new machine.
I must admit that I have no clue how to use a regular coffee maker. I am just becoming familiar with them. I’m pretty sure that the new Keurig machines require you only use the K-cups. I don’t want to always use K-cups. I narrowed down my search to two machines. One is the Keurig 2.0, and the other machine is the Brim Size-Wise coffee maker. It has markings in the permanent filter that tells you how much coffee to use for each size. You can also choose the strength of the brew, and there’s a button that allows you to keep the coffee warm.
I decided to go with the Brim coffee maker. It gives me the option of making one cup, a traveling mug size, or a 12-cup carafe for the times when we have a lot of company (and we are making caramel macchiatos). I also liked that it is Keurig-like, but I will have the flexibility of using my own coffee. I can’t wait to start using it. Don’t get me wrong, I am a Keurig-type person. It fits my personality. I love sleek, easy-to-use appliances, but I just had to try the Brim. I’ll soon let you know how I like it.
Are you a Keurig or traditional coffee-maker user? I’d love to hear from you!
