Tribal Print…

This past weekend we celebrated Memorial Day! Thank God for all the brave men and women that fight for our freedom day in and day out. My husband and I wanted to have several friends over for a (rather large) barbecue. It was great because we used to have company over all the time, and having this get-together reminded me of how much I miss it.

When we planned this barbecue, Milton was still in NY. He had been there for three weeks. Due to this trip, Milty and i didn’t get to spend his birthday with him. I then decided that I could use this opportunity to have everyone there to ‘celebrate’ his birthday. He later told that he had a feeling I was going to do that. See, for my birthday a few weeks ago, he did the same thing. He orchestrated a surprise birthday dinner and invited some of our closest friends.

The most fun part of the evening was when three children fell into our pool. Now, I know what you’re probably thinking. No, I’m not a cruel person. The kids were close to the edge of the pool and were told to move away from it, but they were sure that they wouldn’t fall in. They did. It was a good thing they knew how to swim.

There was so much food at our barbecue, and everything was delicious. We had folks out by the pool, in the family room, in the kitchen, and in the dining room. We had several games going at the same time. To finish off the night, we had caramel macchiatos, carrot and banana cupcakes, and zucchini bread. My sweet hubby had just worked two overnight shifts and on the day of the barbecue, he had just come home and slept for less than two hours before getting up and lighting up the grill.

Now on to the outfit. This shirt/dress is a tribal print cutie. I loved the color of this shirt, but I did not like the material. It was way too hot for the Florida heat. It was much thicker than I expected when I ordered it. It also clung too much, and that’s one of the reasons why I don’t have full-body shots in this post. I am actually going to return it. It would probably die of heat stroke in it. The details on the bell sleeves are so pretty.

The clutch is probably one of my most favorite accessories right now. I had outgrown Coach a few years ago, but I have been trying to expand my horizons to try other brands (besides Louis Vuitton). What I loved about it when I saw it in the store, besides the insanely discounted price, was the gold chain that holds your hand as your hand holds it. So fab! I also think the leather is very beautiful. One thing I love and have always loved about Coach is the quality and feel of their leather. Whenever I buy leather accessories for my husband, it’s almost always Coach.

What di everyone else do for Memorial Day? I’d love to hear about it. If you’d like to be notified of new blog posts, please use the form on the top, right-hand side to sign up.
